If there’s one thing that any company needs to be aware of, it’s their reputation. How you’re known and perceived within your industry is incredibly important for doing business.

A great way to uphold your reputation and gain more clients, work and overall success, is by becoming an award-winning company.

Here’s what you need to know about entering awards, and why more than ever, you need some wins under your belt.

Finding the right awards to apply for

Awards don’t just come to you, you have to look for them - and as you may come to find out, this isn’t the easiest process.

Before beginning your search, decide whether you want to invest money in this or if you want to try and win some free-to-enter awards first.

You will find hundreds of awards throughout the year that vaguely tie in to what you or your company does, but you need to find the right award – maybe one that focuses on a specific project that you’re proud of, or one that’s prestigious enough to really get your clients or customers talking.

This is a long process, but absolutely worthwhile – by finding and winning the right awards you will really reap the benefits.

The submission process

Although it’s fun to brag about your company, writing an application is a very time-consuming activity, so it’s important that you weigh up potential time to enter against the prestige it will bring your company.

Applications can be anything from a couple of hundred words to a few thousand, split across a wide range of questions that will probably ask very specific and technical questions.

So get ready to put away some time to really focus on being an award-winning company.

Why now?

Because everyone is doing it. Companies nationwide have realised just how important it is to be seen as ‘best in the industry’. If your competitors are out there winning awards and you’re not, it’s going to put you on the backfoot.
